The crew of the Pearl and Liberty cried in alarm. Reginald, thinking only of himself, ran towards the rear of the ship, avoiding the water. He leapt off in an attempt to reach one of the other vessels nearby, followed by Pintel and Ragetti and a few other cowardly members. Will looked around in a panic before shouting out "HOLD YOUR BREATH!"...then he heard nothing as the great force of the ocean swelled around him as the Dutchman sank to the depths. All was black.

Jack waved his arms up and pushed himself up, the waves were so rough it was difficult to keep his head above water. "Victoria?" he cried out.
Rory gasped for air as he came up. "Swim to the ship!" he cried out to the others. He began to make his was to the Liberty, and glanced around him, "Evelyn? Evelyn?!"
The others began to swim, though swimming through such violent waves proved difficult.
Evelyn could see Will's figure near her and swam down a little to grab his arm. They both heaved up to be met by a strong wave and had to swim up once more. Evelyn gasped and sputtered out water.

Victoria's heavy garments dragged her down below the waves. Not the strongest of swimmers, she used all her energy to get her head above the waves. Exhausted, she span around in the water and noticed Rory swimming towards the ships. Driven on by adrenaline and the need to live, she began trying to swim in the same direction. Hearing her name, she called out in reply...
"Jack! Jack swim to the ships!"
Will coughed and held onto Evelyn tightly... "Stay together...head for the Liberty!" he shouted, his voice hoarse and sore from the salty water that also stung his eyes. Together they began to make their way slowly across the sea...
Still above them, the storm raged on, though the evil horseman had seemingly disappeared. Will noticed a black shadow move beneath the waves as he and his lady swam...the great maelstrom still swirling and sucking....
"FASTER!" he cried...he could feel the raging tides pulling him under...

Jack heard her voice and did as she said. He was a stronger swimmer and caught up with her. "Come on..." he helped her along as much as he could.
Rory saw Evelyn and felt relief. It didn't last long...
Evelyn felt her body being dragged back, and however much she exerted her strength and determination, the force that was pulling her was too great. She took a gasp as she was pulled under.
The great Orca came forward, it's huge tail sinking into the water. As it's jaw opened, water began to rush back, making it even harder for Evelyn to swim forward. Bubbles escaped her mouth. She began to panic. Her heart pounded manically...
Rory frantically swam toward her and dived in. He used all of his strength to get to her. Evelyn saw his figure and reached out to him desperately. He swam behind her and pushed her body forward. With both of their vigour, they began to move forward.
Just as they were about to come to the surface, Evelyn felt Rory's hands leave her. She came up and panted heavily, "Rory! Rory!" she swam about and called his name again. After a few frightening moments, he answered her call. She took his hand and pulled him over, "Yer scared me to friggin' death." They began to swim away as quickly as they could.

Will twisted and turned to check Evelyn was allright. He had lost her in the waves. He saw her head bobbing up, and then Rory next to her. Knowing she was safe he began to swim again...he was so near to the ship...
Victoria held onto Jack with all her remaining strength as the looming hulk of the Pearl grew ever closer, though the waves kept pulling them back...

Jack clambered up, and helped Victoria to get aboard. Mr. Gibbs offered a hand, and once they were safe, or rather safer than they were, there was still much more to worry about...
Evelyn quickly climbed aboard and turned back to Rory, "Come on!" She saw him whince in pain. Unseen to her glimmering eyes, in the dark waters, there was a twirling dark crimson about his body...
He tried to pull his body up, but the swim had tired him out so much, he let go and sunk down. Evelyn cried out and dived in immediately. She pulled up his heavy body, and then held onto the side of the ship, "Help!" she cried up, "Help me get him up!"

Will was at her side immediately, helping her support Rory. A rope was thrown down and he held onto it tightly. He supported the weight of the other man as much as he could as the crew of the Liberty helped to bring them all aboard. Once he was on deck, Will fell down and gasped for breath. He was still thinking about the Father he had found and lost in the space of a few minutes…
Victoria stood quickly and ran to the side of the ship to make sure the others were safe. Her raven locks were stuck to her face, her sopping clothes clinging to her…
“Jack!” she shouted, “That thing! It’s still out there…what do we do?!” she looked at him desperately as Gibbs, Marty and the others who had escaped the Dutchman emerged and waited for orders.

Evelyn sat beside Rory, "What happened? Why'd you let go?" Rory's voice was quiet, his throat dry, "I'm alright Evie...I'm alright..." Evelyn felt something on her hand, she lifted it up to see the reason behind his weakness. She let out a quiet gasp and looked at him. He'd been badly wounded, there were gaping teeth marks on his torso. "Rory..." He shook his head, "It's nothin'..." Evelyn told Marty to go get Katrina. Rory's eyes started to get heavy, he felt awfully tired...

Spinng around, Will saw blood on the deck. He saw Rory's pale face...he saw it all in a few seconds...and then he was next to Evelyn. Tearing at his damp shirt, he pressed a wad of cloth into the gaping wound.
"Rory! Rory stay awake...look at me, look at Evelyn...can you hear me?" He tried his best to stem the flow of red liquid that was leaking out of the man. "Rory! Someone get us some clean water! And bandages!" He shouted to someone, anyone nearby...his eyes flicking between Rory and Evelyn...

Evelyn's lip began to quiver. But she had forgotten the cold and the impending doom. This was a different fear. One that was far worse. A teardrop fell down her cheek. She held on to Rory's hand tightly, "Hey..." she whispered, "Don't you be leavin' me..."
Rory put a finger on her lips, "I'll never leave you..." his voice cracked. He stared at her face, determined never to forget it. It was engraved in his mind, in his heart. He felt a great sorrow, his life was drifting away and he...he felt unfinished. "I'm so sorry..."
Evelyn shook her head, "Don't. Don't you dare." He shook his head, "This is...I'm sorry for going out like this, leaving nothing to my name, nothing for you to...to remember me by..."
"Don't be stupid. I have everything to remember you by, but I...I don't want to need to remember you...please..." she whimpered. Rory couldn't hold back his tears, "You be strong for me, my girl's strong, and you...you've got so much to give. You've made my life so much brighter, you know that? Given it meaning. I wish I could give your's meaning too...I wish...God I wish I could live..."
"You have...and you will..." Tears rolled down her cheek and Evelyn subtly put his hand upon her stomach. It was round and warm...it was a part of him...

Will stopped pressing the cloth to Rory's wound and began to pump at his chest... "COME ON!" he cried, willing him back to life, shouting at the man in desperation as he beat down on his heart, trying to bring it back to life.
He could not longer look at Evelyn, because he knew it would break his own heart to see her lose someone she cared for so deeply. All feelings of envy had gone in that moment, and in the stillness of Rory's death, Evelyn and Will found their redemption...though they could not see it for their grief.

Rory's eyes flickered open, he shook his head at Will. "Can I..." his voice croaked. He coughed to clear it, "Can I be alone with...with Evie?" He kept eye contact with him, and though he said nothing more, he'd told William that Evelyn was no longer his...
As the young man left their side, Evelyn could see it coming. This was...goodbye. She'd feared it for so long...and she'd failed completely. Tears streamed down her cheeks. Rory brought up his cold hand and gently carressed her damp cheek, and with a slightly hushed voice, he found his words in music...
"Oh Ev'lyn O'Malley, you've left my heart shaken With a hopeless desolation I'd have you to know... It's the wonders of admiration your quiet face has taken And your beauty will haunt me wherever I go...
The white moon above the pale sands, the pale stars above the thorn tree, Are cold beside my darling, but no purer than she... I gaze upon the cold moon till the stars drown in the warm seas And the bright eyes of my darling are never on me...
My Sunday it is weary, my Sunday it is grey now My heart is a cold thing, my heart is a stone... All joy is dead within me, my life has gone away now For another has taken my love for his own...
The day is approaching when we were to be married And it's rather I would die than live only to grieve Oh, meet me, My Darling, e'er the sun sets o'er the barley. And I'll meet you there on the road to Drumslieve.
Oh Ev'lyn O'Malley, you have my heart shaken With a hopeless desolation, I'd have you to know It's the wonders of admiration your quiet face has taken And your beauty will haunt me wherever I...go..."
The last word was lost in a whisper as his eyes froze, still gazing at his beautiful lover with adoration. His right hand was still placed upon the warm home of his unborn child...
"Rory...?" a terrified whisper escaped her lips. She cupped her hand over her mouth and the salty tears poured out of her. She put her hand on his cheek, and gently shook him, pleading, begging him to wake from his distant slumber. Her heart froze, and it was burning at the same time. She kissed his lips, the kiss that would have to last her forever...

Will ran his hands through his wet hair and hit the side of the ship letting out a growl of anger and sadness that echoed in the sky. He knew he was gone. He turned back to glance at Evelyn before turning away and putting his head in his hands.
Above the ships, the rumble of the thunder rang out and a flash of lightening split the sky. Victoria, span around again as Will’s cry rang around them. The wind persisted in it’s shrieking, and the maelstrom continued to rage around them as another sinner’s soul left the world. Her black eyes flashed with fear…
“We have lost someone…” she said darkly, inwardly hoping and yet worrying that it might be James Hook, somewhere lost at sea. Several men removed their hats and bowed their heads. Gibbs crossed himself.
”Jack...” she appealed to her Captain once more, waiting for his command…

Jack heard Victoria, but his eyes were fixed on the sky. The screams seemed to be getting louder...closer...
Evelyn had forgotten everything around her. She had her arms around her beloved's cold body. Her eyes had glazed over.
The ships were swiftly being dragged into the eye of the storm...they seemed to be sinking, the dark oceans parting beneath them...
